Vintage Regiment of Indian Army consisting Kumaons,Ahirs.
Kumaon Regiment has its glorious past, has almost regale history behind it. what fascinated me the most was its insignia:
A demi-rampant lion holding a cross. The demi-rampant lion is part of the arms of the Russel family, whose ancestor had started the body of troops now formed into the Kumaon Regiment. Eventually, when the folks were chartered officially to be called Kumaon Regiment, they debated to keep the crown (Nizam’s times ancestry) but balancing the same was concern.
the best part is that in Indian Army, details are dealt with urgency.
Today’s change is yester year’s mark.

“Balidanam Veer Lakshanam”
The motto can be interpreted as in different perspectives.
- Sacrifice is the trait of bravery
- Sacrifice is in itself a trait of bravery
- Sacrifice Brave Obvious
it always fascinates me to comprehend the emotion that goes beyond the words, the magic it creates. Now above is the motto of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry.
“Bravest of the Brave” regiment of our Indian Army.
there is no romance in some very romantic ideas,
when you fight hands tied i dare say.
many Sukmas await.
Give right to retaliate to forces.
Not a luxury to keep dying vulnerable.
A soldier has to fight like soldier not set as a check mate dice.
“Now, for how long that has to be and for what?” We asked very quietly.
What was the extent of the perversion the opponent country was aiming at?
And why was it?
Do we go and ask for Lahore, Karachi? Do we harbour the militants in our compound secretly?
Do we claim our ownership Pre partition over there? So,what do we do?
We keep on taking in all on ourselves, they do with patience.
Yes,we are patient Us.
But…there is now an edge and end.

Just was thinking about the carefree’Rhino Grin‘.How it can be like this, so much of life on hand at stake?
Safeguarding the country was a passion, it was blood, marrow and soul.
